解説
うっかり"A computer support table having a display and a keyboard“ と訳すと間違いです。ディスプレーとキーボードはコンピュータ側の構成要素であって支持テーブル自体はディスプレーもキーボードも持ちません。
また、“an upper top plate on which the display is placed" と訳してはいけません。この発明はコンピュータを載せる支持テーブルが保護対象なのに、上記のように訳すと、ディスプレーが載っている上方天板、つまりディスプレーが発明（支持テーブル）の必須構成要件となってしまう可能性があります。ディスプレーを載せることが出来るあるいは載せるべきというような訳文にする工夫が必要です。
更に、「上方天板の下方天板の」のように「～の～の」と「の」が続く場合の翻訳は、”... of ... of …”と機械的に訳すと誤訳となる場合が多々あります。本問の場合がまさにそうで、初めに「上方天板の部分」(”the portion of the upper top plate”)と訳して、その部分がどんな部分かを説明する(“that overlaps the lower top plate”)ようにします。
