下方に添装のコ状枠を有するレバー４と共にその基部をフレームに絶縁して固定したバイメタル３の遊動端にトグル５を溶接し、該トグルのエッジ部にトグルにその基部を固着して設けたブレード６の中バネ７を弾発的に係着し、ブレードの先端に備えた開閉接点８を固定接点９に対向せしめてなるサーモスタット。

「その基部」が２か所登場するが、日本語の場合に、後に登場する部材に対し「その」と使うことがしばしばある。「その」が指すものを理解するのは時に翻訳者泣かせであるが（図面を参照しないと理解できない）、英語に翻訳すると、語順の関係でitsやthereofを使用しても不明確にならないことが多い。
